Product Description
These water-soluble overhead-projection pens work well with the mats. The black, blue, and green colors are the best regarding being removed with water. The red has a tendency of staining much more than the other colors so it is best used for highlighting only. NOTE: Never use dry erase, permanent, or grease-pencil markers. The vinyl is too porous for the lines created from them to be able to be removed. If you have any doubt of the suitability of any particular marker, draw a small line on the border, let sit for awhile, and see how well it can be removed. Better to have a small permanent blemish on the edge of the mat than a permanent map drawn on the entirety of the mat!

 No Disappointment With Pens August 3, 2010

The pens delivered were exactly as they were depicted and I have used them several times since their arrival. The tips are fine and seem sturdy so detailing with them is a breeze and I expect them to last a good while. The only complaint I have is not with the pens necessarily, but in the fact that after I purchased them Amazon recommended another pen set from a different supplier/manufacturer with eight colors for a little less money. So, if you want these quality Chessex pens, you shouldn't be disappointed, but if you just want an abundance of colorful pens, you may want to look around a bit more.

I bought these pens with the Chessex Role Playing Play Mat: "Megamat" Double-Sided Reversible Mat for RPGs and Miniature Figure Games (34 in x 48 in). They worked really well for our purposes. There was light smudging after a two hour play session, but you had to be very close to the mat to notice. When we were done it was very easy to wipe off with a little bit of water.
